About our School
CLASSROOMS
Warranwood PS was built in 1996. The permanent classrooms are modern architecturally designed open spaces. The rooms also have separate wet areas and computer roomsA building program will be undertaken in 2009/2010 to replace portable classrooms that have been onsite for some years.
VISUAL ARTS
The school has a spacious fully equipped art room for the students to produce wonderfully creative pieces.
PERFORMING ARTS
The school provides a huge double classroom space for Performing Arts. This allows for dramatic movement, large instruments such as marimbas and a practice space for concerts.
LOTE
The LOTE room recreates a Japanese environment. Students sit on cushions around low round tables. Computers are provided for video conferencing with Japan.
GYMNASIUM
The school has a gymnasium that provides an area for indoor PE sessions as well as sports such as basketball and volleyball. The gymnasium also provides a venue for Monday morning assemblies, guest speakers and community functions.
MULTI-SPORTS FIELD
In 2007 we built a wonderful synthetic turf sports field. This field has created a fantastic addition to our facilities, with all-weather capability in a number of sport areas.
LIBRARY
The school boasts a wonderful library space with a huge variety of books and magazines. The library also plays host to staff meetings and parent information nights. The library has a fully automated catalogue. It is a large, well stocked learning resource. Children can borrow books for certain periods of time. Each child recieves a weekly tuition in library usage, research skills and literature.
WETLANDS
The school has developed a large wetland area that is home to 5 different species if frogs. The area has a permanent pond section with a ponding platform large enough for a whole grade to investigate the water. The area also has hundreds of plants that attract butterflies and bird life.
CANTEEN
Supports a healthy food policy and provides all students with the opportunity to order lunch each day and purchase over the counter at lunchtimes. The canteen is run by two canteen managers who are assisted each day by parent volunteers.
The school has been successful in obtaining a 3 year State Government Grant to promote the eating of fruit and Vegetables by Primary School aged children. As a result students at Warranwood Primary School in Prep, Grade 1 and 2 each receive a free piece of fresh fruit to taste once a week. our aim is to provide students with a different fruit or vegetable every week of this promotion.

UNIFORM
We encourage all students to take pride in their school by wearing the school uniform. The school colours are royal blue and gold. Thongs, singlet tops and open-toed sandals are unsuitable for school wear. Jewellery, including dangling earrings and necklaces, is unsafe for school wear.
A note should be sent to school if your child is out of uniform.
Windcheaters, tracksuits, T-shirts, sun hats and school bags, all of which have the possum motif, are available through the Uniform Shop. Pre-loved items may also be available for sale.

Out of School Hours Care
Warranwood Primary School operates a Before School Care and After School Care program.
Warranwood’s Before School Care Program is a thirty-place program operating Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am-8: 45am. Breakfast is provided between 7am- 8:10am where a nutritious breakfast is provided. Special Dietary needs are catered for.
Indoor and outdoor activities are available for all children, the children can also do their homework or as we have found some like to have a quiet place to rest or read.
An authorised person must sign in the children.
Our After School Care program is a fifty five-place program. The hours of operation are 3.30pm – 6.30pm Monday to Friday on normal school days and on the last day of term the hours are 2.30pm – 6.00pm, on the last day of school year we operate from 2.00pm – 5.30pm.
On arrival the ASC program the children are greeted at the door and are marked off the attendance roll. If for some reason your child does not arrive an announcement is made for the child together with a search of the school. You will be notified immediately if your child does not arrive.
A nutritious afternoon tea is provided, special diets are catered for and we do our utmost to cater for most likes and dislikes.
On the last day of each term we have a party afternoon tea.
The program offers the children the opportunity to participate in a wide range of both indoor and outdoor activities. The program is flexible and all activities are optional. The children also have the opportunity to do their homework or just have quiet time.
We encourage the children to have input into the planning of both the BSC and ASC programs.
An authorised person must sign out the children before leaving the program.
As of term 1, 2008 we have been fortunate to have the ‘Active After School Communities’ (AASC) program at our ASC on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. This is a Federal Government funded program, which is free to all students who attend the ASC program. The sports we have participated in so far are soccer, circus skills/aerobics, AFL, basketball and dance. This is a wonderful program for our children of which we are delighted to be part of.

FEES
The Program currently adheres to the fee structures of the Office of Preschool and Child Care.
After School Care Before School Care
$12 per student $6 per student
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Parents are encouraged to become actively invovled in the program by:
- providing feedback on their child's invovlement in the program.
- commenting on the program and offering suggestions.
- becoming actively invovledin the committee.

donating any materials ,that may be used in the program eg newspapers, white paper,fabrics, cardboard, preloved games/puzzles etc.
The Education Maintenance Allowance is paid to eligible parents of students under 16 years of age who attend a State or registered School in Victoria.
To be eligible for receipt of the EMA, the claimant must:
- Be a parent or a guardian of a primary or secondary school student up to the age of sixteen; and
- Be an eligible beneficiary of a Centrelink pension, allowance or benefit within the meaning of the State Concessions Act 2004 or be a Veterans Affairs (TPI) pensioner pensioner or be a foster parent; and
- Submit their application to the school by the due date.
The eligibility criteria must be met as at the first day of Term 1 for the first instalment and the first day of Term 3 for the second instalment.
Any application based on Centrelink payments that are not income tested are not eligible unless the claimant, in their own name, complies with the second dot point above.
