Step into Prep at Warranwood

 

The first year of school is a truly special milestone. At Warranwood, our Prep program provides rich opportunities for children to develop responsibility for their own learning within a supportive, inclusive and differentiated environment.

Learning experiences are thoughtfully designed to balance play-based exploration with explicit, targeted instruction in literacy and numeracy. This ensures strong foundations for future learning, while nurturing curiosity, confidence 

and engagement.

Recognising that young children are naturally curious, science and inquiry play an important role throughout the Prep year. Each term, our Big Ideas guide learning across Humanities, Science, Thinking Skills, and Design and Technologies. These Big Ideas create meaningful connections across the curriculum and support deep understanding through exploration, play and guided instruction.

 

 

School Tours

We warmly invite prospective families to experience Warranwood Primary School through a personalised school tour.

 

Tours are conducted by our Principal or Assistant Principal and provide an opportunity to:

  • Explore our learning spaces

  • See classrooms in action

  • Learn about our Prep program

  • Ask questions about enrolment and transition

Education Week Open Day & Night

20th May 2026

 

Open Day: 9:00am – 11:00am
Open Night: 5:30pm – 7:00pm

 

During Education Week, current and prospective families are invited to visit and explore our programs and learning spaces.

 

This whole-school event showcases:

  • Specialist programs

Prospective Prep Information Night

27th May 2026 | 6:00pm – 7:00pm

 

Our Prospective Prep Parent Information Evening provides families with an overview of our Prep program, including:

  • Literacy and numeracy foundations

  • Play-based exploration

  • Classroom routines and learning environments

  • Wellbeing and support structures

  • Transition processes

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about how we support students in building strong foundations for lifelong learning.

 

 

2027 Prep Information Evening

14th October 2026

 

Families of enrolled 2027 Prep students are invited to attend our Information Evening, where you will:

  • Meet the 2027 Prep Teaching Team

  • Learn important “need-to-know” information

  • Gain insights into preparing your child for school

This evening ensures families feel confident and informed as they prepare for their child’s first year at WPS.

 

 

Prep Transition Sessions

In Term 4, children starting Prep the following year are invited to attend transition sessions to prepare for their exciting first year of school.

 

These sessions allow children to:

  • Become familiar with the school environment

  • Meet teachers and peers

  • Experience classroom routines

  • Build confidence before their first official day
