Student Voice and Agency

At Warranwood Primary School, we believe student voice and agency are essential to building confident, capable and engaged learners.

From Prep to Year 6, students are provided with authentic opportunities to contribute to school life, influence decisions and develop leadership skills. We actively encourage students to share their ideas, take initiative and make a positive difference within our community.

Leadership at Warranwood is not limited to one year level — it is nurtured progressively across the primary years.

Leadership Opportunities

School Captains (Year 6)

Our School Captains represent the student body and work closely with school leadership. They model our RUIn values of Respect, Understanding and Integrity, speak at official events and contribute to whole-school initiatives.

Specialist Captains (Year 6)

Specialist Captains support key learning areas such as Performing Arts, Visual Arts, PE and Japanese. They assist in organising events, maintaining resources and supporting student engagement in specialist programs.

House Captains (Year 6)

House Captains lead their House Teams during carnivals and sporting events. They promote teamwork, encouragement and house spirit while fostering a strong sense of belonging across year levels.

Library Leaders (Years 3–6)

Library Leaders assist in maintaining the library space, supporting younger students and promoting a love of reading across the school. This role encourages responsibility, organisation and service to others.

Student Representative Council (Prep–6)

Our Student Representative Council (SRC) ensures student voice is heard across all year levels. Representatives meet regularly to:

  • Share ideas and feedback

  • Raise student concerns

  • Contribute to school improvement initiatives

  • Support fundraising and community projects

SRC empowers students to actively shape their school experience.

Greenologists (Prep–6)

Our Greenologist leaders promote environmental sustainability across the school. Students engage in initiatives such as waste reduction, recycling programs and environmental awareness campaigns, fostering responsibility and stewardship for our environment.

Building Leadership from the Start

At Warranwood, leadership begins in Prep. Students are encouraged to:

  • Share ideas

  • Take responsibility

  • Support peers

  • Reflect on their learning

  • Contribute to classroom and school decisions

By providing progressive leadership opportunities from Prep to Year 6, we ensure every student has the chance to develop confidence, initiative and a strong sense of belonging.

Through student voice and agency, we empower learners to become active contributors within our school and the wider community.
